If you're looking for a weekend getaway that offers a perfect mix of scenic beauty, vibrant culture, and a touch of mystery, look no further than Asheville, North Carolina. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Asheville is a city where creativity and nature converge, offering endless opportunities to explore, relax, and indulge.

Start your weekend by soaking in the breathtaking views of the mountains with a hike along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Wind down from the hike with lunch at Farm Burger on Patton Ave for a 100% grass feed, locally sourced, amazingly taste meal - and don't pass on the feta fries!

After a morning in nature, time to explore more of Asheville’s downtown, where the city’s artistic spirit is on full display. Wander through the River Arts District, where you'll find an eclectic mix of galleries, studios, and street art. From pottery to paintings, the local artists’ work captures the essence of Asheville’s vibrant culture. And bring your wallet because it is a great place to begin collecting original art for your home and what a great reminder of a trip well spent!

Asheville is packed with events so do so research before you arrive (When In Asheville) (Explore Asheville) If you like music, there seems to always be a great band in a great venue. On this trip I attended the traveling Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy. What an afternoon as I stepped in the door to a 19th century with its gothic ambiance and moody decor inspired by the macabre tales of Poe himself.

Inside, the tall old wood ceiling and large chandeliers (The Venue) set the stage for an evening of literary-inspired cocktails, each one crafted with a nod to Poe’s most famous works. Sip on a “Raven’s Delight” or a “Tell-Tale Heart” as you listen to the whispers of Poe’s dark prose. The bartenders here are not just mixologists; they are storytellers, weaving tales of suspense and horror as they serve up each drink. If you enjoy Poe (in a short, fun and friendly atmosphere) check it out in your city. Fever.com

Whether you’re drawn by the mountains, the art, the music, or the food, Asheville offers a weekend escape like no other. And don't miss standing in line for breakfast at Biscuit Head. Famous for its Southern-style "cathead" biscuits, which are as large as a cat’s head. Founded in 2013 by husband-and-wife team Jason and Carolyn Roy, Biscuit Head has become an Asheville staple with multiple locations, including West Asheville, South Asheville, and Biltmore. Don't forget to get some jelly to take home too!
